Quick-start guide

Thanks for joining Code Healthy with OpenShift! You're officially registered now, and we’ll be sending you regular updates throughout the competition.

Here’s how to get started building your health app today. Submissions are due September 21, 2016, at 5pm ET.

  1. Plan your attack. Visit the resources page for an overview of OpenShift’s dev portal, documentation, support links, and more about the competition categories.
  2. Sign up for your free instance of OpenShift Online (Next Generation). After you sign up, you'll be invited to join a special organization on GitHub that will allow you to access the hackathon environment. To accept the invitation, log in to GitHub and then go to the following URL: Once you've accepted the invitation, you're all set to authenticate to the hackathon environment with your GitHub credentials.  Simply go to and click on "Login with Github."
  3. Get a head start on your submission. Fill out the basic fields on the application form and familiarize yourself with the submission requirements. This will give you a good idea of what you'll need to put together. Remember: you can edit your submission as many times as you like before the deadline.
  4. Optional (but recommended!): Form a team. Thinking about buddying up? Visit the participants page to find and meet teammates. You can see who else is looking for a teammate, check out what’s in their portfolio, and send them a message to connect. Consider signing up for the hackathon Slack channel, too, where you can also meet & chat with other hackers!

We’re looking forward to seeing all the ways you’ll code healthy with OpenShift!

We're here to help. If you have any questions about the hackathon, post on the discussion forum or email and we'll respond as soon as we can.
